...the captured and enslaved ancestors knew absolutely the quantitative truth of it all... For all the designations, names, and titles attributed them...they were and are the most challenged and dedicated community caregivers! The heartfelt good they did and yet do resonates continually and in it's ethereal cyclic majesty, nurtures and sustains us to this very day... They remembered, recalled and recanted ~ and in broken vestiges of forced fed langue and parole ~though indigenous dialects are centuries forgotten, snatched from memory along with ancestral mores, mannerisms and norms...still they recant the fragmented rememory, rejoicing in the fact filled righteousness of the ancient knowledge recalled...they possessed and passed on qualitative spiritual survival truths to the young born witnesses and the righteous circle is yet and forever unbroken... "...when 1one assisted 1one other ~ at least 2two are uplifted and too strengthened ~ all that we keep, we lose ~ that which we give, we have ~ as everything shared is multiplied...!" As we celebrate our WOMANIST selves during this month of March, and FOREVER ~ I think about how profoundly those old ancestors lived the principles of the Nguzo Saba. Though captive and enslaved, the largest numbers of them were never infact slaves. I reflect on how they; even under the most horrific, satanic system of human bondage, those old Africans resonated from a circle of order and peace both ancient and forever new...though snatched from their geographic homeland...they have instilled in us; O the magnitude of proud and shining example , the free being ability to be quite well at home though displaced, even as we wait and reside still in the smoldering belly of a carrion captor beast. Though we be generational survivors of economic bondage, our righteous humanity increases and evolves. Bear witness to the truths of SIStah*Women...the mothers, the wives, sisters,companions...the progeny of Amer~Africans who can fly! Look how our love light glistens even as we are yet shackled to and covered by the binding boulder of constitutional slavery...see how steadfastly our love light circle glows and shines and guides! Madame C. J. Walker (1867~1919), Scientist, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Social Activist ~ Augusta Savage (1892~1962), Artist, Scholar, Educational Administrator, Artivist ~ Fannie Lou Hamer (1917~1977), Agriculturalist, Community Organizer, Political Activist ~ Bennetta Nelson West, Sculptress, Community Organizer, Artivist, Administrator ~ I rejoice in the lives and works of these SIStah WOMANIST WARRIORS and so very many more during this sanctioned season of female celebration...I celebrate the very union of their parents...for their births evoked change on the planet! These Womanist *Amer*African*Mother*SIStah earth angels gave and give the greatest of gifts...the selfless, timeless gift of SELF is indeed unequivocal, and is decidedly far beyond any substantiating category. These women use the inherent fruits of time and talent, often and firmly positioning themselves in harm's way...they stood up for the timely cause of the day ~the ways in which they unselfishly implemented "the good works", they made and make soul searing impact on all the days to come. UJAMAA, the fourth principle of Kwanzaa states: Cooperative Economics ~"To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together." This principle speaks to the enabling benefits of cooperatives as the unquestionable key which unlocks and destroys the shackles of Amer*African & global systems of economic slavery! The progressive Mother*SIStah*Women I mention in this missive knew and know well the regimental necessity of our collective sense of accountability, integrity, equity, risk and reward. To research, study and celebrate the bold sense of womanist pride and purpose these Matriarchs exemplify through the standards of unity they embody...the unwavering aura of their self determined walks...the way they saw and see themselves as one with the community at large, creatively and faithfully taking responsibility for the collective gratifying good and glorious shared gain...is a necessary and satisfying thing to do!
